  • “We need to periodically ask, “What wants to come into the world through me?” This is not an ego-driven narcissistic question. It is a query which summons us to show up, to serve something larger than the familiar, the comfortable. Surely one of the most telling tests of our lives is whether we are living in a way which is driven more by challenge than by comfort, one which asks more of us than we had planned to offer.”

Astrology.

the presence of the stars and planets at the moment of your birth, the incarnation of soul imprinted in time and space, provides a symbolic map of your fate and your fortune

Astrology.

speaks to the outer events and circumstances as well as the psyche of the native. Astrology can be used as a tool to navigate ideal time to pursue a new path, to discover hidden potentials within oneself, and cultivate practices to stay connected to self and others.

Astrology.

connects us with the powerful forces that create, sustain, and transform the cosmos and that act through us. These forces, whether conceptualized as divine, as archetypes, or as scientific, connect us to a world that is permeated with aliveness.

Astrology.

recognizes a correspondence between what takes place in the heavens and what takes place here on earth. The mystery that lies at the heart of it all is the same mystery that lies in your own heart.

All you have to do is look up and look in.

  • “We think we can congratulate ourselves on having already reached such a pinnacle of clarity, imagining that we have left all these phantasmal gods far behind.  But what we have left behind are only verbal spectres, not the psychic facts that were responsible for the birth of the gods.  We are still as much possessed by autonomous as if they were Olympians.  Today they are called phobias, obsessions, and so forth; in a word, neurotic symptoms.  The gods have become diseases.

    -Carl Jung

Hi, I’m Amalie.

Astrologer. Graduate Student M.A. Counseling Psychology. Clinical Intern.

& just like you, I desire to be in a conscious relationship with my process of being and becoming, and to feel how my individual process is part of a larger, collective, cosmic process.

Driven by existential curiosity and mystical sensibilities, I found astrology and psychology. Both fields constantly bring me to the edges of my knowing and humble me in lieu of the complexity of our animate cosmos.

Long before I discovered Astrology, I was child born in strange liminal space of Orthodox Judaism and New Orleans culture. Orthodox Judaism instilled in me an unquenchable appetite for scholarship and both Judaism and New Orleans culture taught me the necessity of ritual and community.

The devastation of Hurricane Katrina placed me in awe of the force of fate and the power of nature that inspires my relationship to astrology and psychology as a means of engaging with forces more powerful than ourselves that inhabit not only our external ecologies but our somatic psyches.

My entire life has been characterized by a ravenous hunger to comprehend the divine structure of the cosmos. This remains the case, but only now am I reckoning with the realization that my pursuits, however intellectually stimulating, are hollow without their embodied application in practical relationship. My decision to pursue a career in psychology stems from an inborn camaraderie I feel to stand side by side with another in our attempts to reckon with the mystery of this life and not only make meaning out of it, but discover delight in the experience of its many manifestations, even those that our egos would rather discard. Like the astrological chart that contains both benefic and malefic planets, our lives too must contain all, and in being with that, we discover a secret necessity to all things and experiences and learn to embrace amor fati - a love of fate.
From this place of love and desire to be in relationship, fate becomes participatory.

My Approach

I have been a student of Astrology since 2020 and am currently working towards an M.A. in Counseling Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute.

My psychological training is in the field of depth psychology. I work within the frameworks of psychoanalysis, through which I understand personality and psychopathology, Jungian and post-Jungian analysis, through which I incorporate an imaginal, experiential, process-oriented approach, and parts work, through which I understand the polytheistic and animate nature of the psyche that is reflected in the planets and stars found in our birth charts.

My clinical training focuses in trauma-informed therapy. I view trauma through multiple lenses simultaneously: through attachment and developmental patterning, through trauma-inducing systems of oppression, as an embodied archetypal response system, and as part of natural, cyclical cycles of life and death understood through vegetative myth.

In my capacity as a Counseling Astrologer, I am utilizing information gleaned from the astrological chart to support your psychic well-being.

“The physician must have knowledge of man’s other half, that half of his nature which is bound up with astronomical philosophy; otherwise; he will be in no true sense a man’s physician, since Heaven retains within its sphere half of all bodies and all maladies. What is a physician who knows nothing of cosmography?”

- Paracelsus

FAQs

What is the difference between you as a therapist and you as an astrologer?

I treat my astrology practice and my therapist practice separately. As a therapist, I am working with individuals to address psychological, relational, and behavioral concerns. As a therapist, I am working under the guidelines of licensing that includes laws regarding confidentiality and restrictions on having dual relationships. As an astrologer, I am providing astrological counseling that often include psychological considerations and I am utilizing timing techniques to analyze the past and predict the future. While there is some overlap in my role as a counseling astrologer in regards to providing counseling and offering my therapeutic perspective, I am not utilizing transference/countertransference and other relational psychodynamic techniques. I am not in a position as an astrologer to make any diagnosis. As a therapist, I do not use astrology to make predictions and I do not provide astrological readings. Astrology in the context of therapy is utilized as a shared language to discuss psychological concerns and make meaning. I can only see clients as a therapist who live in the state of Oregon. I have no restriction on who I can see as a counseling astrologer.
This can be confusing so please reach out and ask questions - I am happy to figure out which service makes sense for you.

Do the Readings Take Place Over Zoom?

All Readings take place over Zoom. The reading will be recorded and sent to you. It is helpful for me to get confirmation that they were received. All readings will be kept for a minimum two months before potentially being erased.

What if I don’t have my birth time?

Birth times are usually located on US birth certificates. If you are unable to obtain your birth time, please let me know and I will help you find an astrologer who is skilled at rectification [the process of working backward to figure out a birth time]. I am still open to working with you, however, know that I have no formal training in rectification and that our reading will not be aimed at trying to determine your birth time, but rather exploring the information that is available to us.

Rescheduling & Cancellation Policy

All bookings are final once complete, however, if circumstances prevent you from being able to do the reading at the booked time, please give me 24 hours notice and we can reschedule. There are no refunds for no call no shows.

What is your Time Zone?

I live in Portland, Oregon (PST) and all scheduling will be done on this time zone.

Confidentiality

I treat information shared with me either in the form or during the reading as confidential. As an astrologer, I am not a mandated reporter nor am I beholden to the laws of confidentiality that govern therapists.

Astrology requires not only the time of birth but also the place of birth. Astrological traditions are multiplicitous and inherently land-based practices, developed by many cultures on specific lands.

The traditions of astrology that I draw from come from the lands of the Mediterranean and Middle East and North African Region. This includes the cultures of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greek, and Semitic peoples.

I was born on the ancestral and present home of the Choctaw, Chitimacha, Houma, and other Indigenous peoples who have lived on the land since time immemorial. I am eternally grateful to experience this land as home.

I am currently residing on the ancestral and present home of the Multnomah, Wasco, Cowlitz, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Bands of Chinook, Tualatin, Kalapuya, Molalla, and many other tribes who made their homes along the Columbia River and who have lived on the land since time immemorial.
